The Critical Importance of Labor Leadership in Transformative Health Care Innovation:Labor & Allied Employers utilizing their power to redesign Health Care Delivery – Improving Healthcare and Reducing Costs!
Dear ABA Members,
Please see below letter from the Executive Director of the Jewish Labor Committee. Fill out the form and help support the cause for the Retail Workers Safety Act.
Dear Friends,
We’re asking people who live in New York State to (S. 8358A/A. 8947A), much needed legislation that will help provide store employees across the state with a more safe and secure workplace.
Retail workers have a tough time. An initial survey conducted by the Retail, Wholesale, Department Store Union found that more than 50% of its retail workers received no training on how to deal with shoplifters, violence de-escalation or a safety plan.
The Retail Worker Safety Act will require employers of retail workers to develop and implement programs to prevent workplace violence; direct the New York State Department of Labor to produce a model workplace violence prevention training program; require employers to provide training on such programs; and require the installation of panic buttons at certain workplaces.
Those who work in retail need this legislation because without it, their lives are at risk whenever they go to work. With your help, and that of many others here in the Empire State, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who take care of us in the places where we shop.
Join us and add your name and address to the letter on this form, and we will make sure it gets to your representatives in Albany.
Thank you!
Arieh Lebowitz
Executive Director
